Westchester magazine features Peter Robbin, founder of LCR

We are happy to share that one of our founders Peter Robbin is featured in Westchester magazine.

Excerpt:

The ceiling is painted a high-gloss celadon, almost like lacquer; as the pool water shimmers, so does the room. "It's a little play of light," bouncing between the two surfaces, liquid and solid, says interior designer Peter Robbin of L.C.R., an office and retail shop
design company with offices in Westport and West Hartford, Connecticut.

New Dinnerware Patterns for Spring from Gien France

Gien, a French tabletop company, has been an LCR staple for the last 20 years. The line carries products ranging from everyday dinnerware and serving pieces to table linens to decorative home accessories, all made and hand painted in an earthenware factory in France. Throughout the years, Gien has remained a popular dinnerware and bridal registry line in our shop.

With the introduction of Gien’s two newest dinnerware patterns, Ronde D’Orient and Sultana, comes a fresh new look for spring. The Ronde D’Orient pattern, inspired by the Ottoman period and the Turkish faience works of Iznik, combines vibrant shades of orange, navy blue, and green- a combination of neutral and bold colors that is currently trending in the world of interior design. The Ronde D’Orient collection consists of dinnerware, serving pieces and bakers, along with coordinating napkins and tablecloths. To really highlight this dinnerware on a tabletop, we suggest using a dinner plate from the collection with a vibrant solid orange charger, or adding two or three of Gien’s new Bougeoirs Mille candlesticks in Terracotta or Blue.

Gien also introduced the Sultana collection, inspired by oriental costume and the palaces of the oriental sultans. The hand painted lacework and floral design in shades of orange, lilac, and turquoise give this pattern a feminine and romantic touch. With its combination of warm and cool tones and delicate detail, Sultana is the perfect pattern for those wishing to give their dinnerware collection a fresh new makeover. A Sultana dinner plate will really pop off a navy blue charger, and using other tabletop accessories in darker shades of blue work well with this collection.

Whether you are looking to refresh your current dinnerware collection, or starting your first one, Gien earthenware is an ideal choice for the everyday. With many other patterns in both contemporary and traditional styles influenced by European style, Gien is sure to have a pattern to suit your taste.

Spring is in the Air with Anna Weatherley Porcelain

Anna Weatherley, an international designer, began her collection of hand painted porcelain in the early 1990’s. Each piece of fine china is hand painted by highly gifted artists in Budapest, Hungary. These artists are trained to mix the vibrant colors and delicate details seen in each one of Anna’s designs. Due to their technique, flowers, fruits, and butterflies are enlivened on fine white porcelain; and each piece becomes not only dinnerware, but a work of art.

The botanical patterns and nature-inspired themes make Anna Weatherley china a perfect table setting for many purposes. To welcome spring, we at LCR suggest mixing dinner plates from the Flowers of Yesterday collection with serving pieces from the Spring in Budapest collection. The dinner plates feature life-sized flowers and butterflies and can act as a focal point on your table, while the serving pieces add a nice complement without taking attention from the place settings. To achieve a more casual table or to add more color, mix in a botanical ramekin, teapot, or platter from Mustardseed and Moonshine. Add a fun napkin and napkin ring from Dransfield and Ross, and your spring table is complete.

Though many of Anna Weatherley’s patterns are reminiscent of spring, the line is also very versatile. The gold tones of the Amber Leaf collection make it an ideal pattern for autumn. Add an Anna Weatherley Pumpkin colored charger to keep with the gold theme, or try it in Blue to pick up the accents of the blue butterflies and dragonflies on the dinnerware. The Seascape Shells and Antique Fish collections are just the thing for a coastal home dinner party. The Simply Anna collection is a popular bridal registry item – the white porcelain and gold trim are the essence of simplicity and elegance.

The Anna Weatherley collection also features many great gift items, such as vases, small dishes and tea sets. These make wonderful gifts for any occasion. Whether it be for Mother’s Day, an anniversary, or a special birthday, any hand painted Anna Weatherley gift is sure to be well received.

Prepare your table for spring (or year-round) with the elegant and whimsical designs of Anna Weatherley china. Dress it up or dress it down – either way your guests will be amazed at the beauty of hand painted works of art inspired by nature.

Sophistication and Style - Dinnerware and Home Accessories by L'objet

Founded in 2004 by former interior designer Elad Yifrach, L’objet’s designs capture the beauty of the natural world by blending ancient techniques with modern-day style. The line features everything from dinnerware to serving pieces to picture frames and other home accessory items.

L’objet’s dinnerware is handcrafted fine Limoges porcelain, and it incorporates materials such as 14k gold or platinum. The Byzanteum dinnerware collection comes in various style borders – including 24k gold, platinum, and a combination of both mixed with rose gold – a combination reminiscent of unique blends found in nature. We at LCR think mixing all three border styles make the most interesting and unique tabletop statement. Pair this dinnerware with a gold beaded placemat and silk napkin from Kim Seybert, and you’ll have a table setting filled with warmth and elegance. Use a mixed-metal Dualite platter and wine chiller by L’objet with this china for added sophistication while entertaining guests.

The home décor collections by L’objet are equally as elegant as their dinnerware collections. The scented candles, which come in porcelain holders adorned with a 14k gold trim, have proven to be one of the most popular gift items chosen by LCR shoppers. The ornament on the lid of each candle holder adds a personal touch. If you have a special photo you wish to display, a gold or platinum L’objet frame is an excellent choice. Use frames from the Scales collection to show off photos of your friends and family (we like mixing the various sizes and materials to make a unique statement), or display a wedding photo in a L’objet Garland frame in platinum and Swarovski crystals.

Whether you are interested in making a sophisticated yet unique table setting, or shopping for elegant home accessories or the perfect gift, L’objet is sure to have many possibilities that will suit your design and decoration needs, and we at LCR are happy to help.

Nambe: Artistic & Functional Design

Nambe, established in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1953, is a company that is dedicated to design and is recognized worldwide for their artistic practicality. Whether it is Nambe metal, crystal, or wood – each piece is sure to provide style as well as functionality for your tabletop, entertaining, and home decoration needs.

All of Nambe’s metal pieces are made from an eight-metal alloy, the contents of which remain a trade secret. This combination of metals retains hot and cold temperatures for long periods of time, an unusual quality that is ideal for entertaining needs. Additionally, each metal piece can be stored in the freezer and put directly into the oven or onto the grill, then onto the table for serving. Nambe designers also use full-lead crystal to create a variety of pieces, such as candlesticks, photo frames, and stemware. Whether giving it as a gift or using it in your own home, Nambe crystal is sure to provide a stunning statement of beauty and artistic flair. More recently, Nambe added a line of wood serving pieces. Made from acacia wood, chosen for its beautiful grain, these bowls and serving trays provide a natural yet modern design to your table.

Over the years, Nambe has grown and added new lines into their collection, such as flatware sets, barware, and baby items. The collection has become popular amongst brides, and Nambe is a common name seen on today’s bridal registries. Today, Nambe’s designers are adding new materials into the collection, such as copper, granite, and enamel - materials that mix well with the classic alloy, crystal, and wood pieces.

Nambe’s team of designers create pieces of art that are fully functional as tableware. Most of these pieces can be used in a multitude of ways, making Nambe an ideal choice for those seeking pieces that have an artistic edge but also serve a practical purpose.

Every time you use a piece of Nambe, whether it be a salt & pepper set while cooking, or a large platter while entertaining, it’s certain you’ll be reminded of style and design as well as everyday functionality.
