LCR West Hartford Welcomes the Fall Season

Fall is right around the corner, and at LCR West Hartford that means setting new fall tabletop! After days and nights spent eating al fresco over the summer, we are all ready to head back indoors to warmth and comfort food.

When designing our fall table we started with the china; Solonge by Gien. With a forest animal motif in warm browns, grays and hints of green, Solonge is reminiscent of the fall season. We then decided to keep the tabletop muted; instead of bringing out the greens and yellows as we could have easily done, we kept within a neutral palate, playing up those very browns and grays that you see on a cool, cloudy fall day. Because we were able to layer these tones, as well as utilize texture and shine through our accessories we kept the table looking rich and warm rather than dreary and dull.

For table linens we turned to our favorite line in our retail shop, Kim Seybert. We’ve always loved her capiz shell placemats and found the gray ones seen here to be stunning. The luster of the capiz shell is a wonderful contrast to the motif on the china. We added in Kim Seybert’s “Brushstroke” Napkin, which incorporates both the gray and tan that we wanted to pull out of the china and then added in a flower napkin ring in the same gray as the placemat. The flower juxtaposes the more masculine images on the table to add visual interest. The final touches for the place setting are a cordial and flute by Saint Louis, both in a smoke gray.

We again combined our two colors for our candles, using latte colored candles in our L’Objet Platinum Evoca Candlesticks. Other accessories on the table include Nest Bowls, also by L’Objet, which add to the nature motif we’ve drawn from the china, as well as bring in a bronze finish which goes well with our coffee and gray colors. Lastly, we added Poppy Salt and Pepper Shakers from Michael Aram. By carrying the bronze finish throughout the table, as well as keeping within our natural theme, they proved to be the finishing touch for our fall table.

Colorful and Creative Gifts at LCR West Hartford

LCR West Hartford is pleased to announce our most recent addition to our website, Diane Markin. Diane Markin, an American artist, currently lives and works in California where she is busy transforming ordinary elements such as glass, jewels, recycled materials and metal into unique works of art. In our retail shop, Diane Markin is most well known for her many frames, but her line extends far beyond them to include everything from clocks, ornaments and garden accessories. Just about everything in Diane’s line is bright, colorful and whimsical, making them perfect gifts for a fun-loving friend.

In addition to creating new objects from the raw materials she so enjoys working with, Diane reuses objects like antique silver plate flatware, “tortures” them, and transforms them into something special. Our favorites are the clocks and serving pieces, like the vertical napkin tray (shown). Other creative and useful recycled items are the garden stake knives, decorative garden accessories made out of glass, jewels, and wire attached to antique silver plate dinner knife, which, according to Diane, makes the perfect garden stake. They are available in dragonfly, butterfly, daisy, heart, sparkler.

Any piece from Diane Markin’s line makes an excellent gift, especially when given to those who have the same love of colorful, cheery and handcrafted items as Diane. Her entire line is made by hand here in the United States, by Diane herself or a member of her team. Many of the pieces are made out of recycled materials making them great gift choices for the Earth-conscious friend as well.

Decorating with Neutrals

Many times we talk about adding a ‘pop of color’ to a room to make a space more exciting and appealing. But, can you still have a room with visual interest without the addition of color? The answer is yes. If done properly, a room designed in a neutral palette can be soothing as well as rich, luxurious and aesthetically pleasing. To achieve this look special attention must be paid to texture.
Even when color is used in a design scheme, texture still plays a big role; once it is removed, texture becomes the focus. Texture should be kept in mind even before furniture and accessories enter a room. In lieu of painting a wall, papering in a grass cloth or other wallpaper can serve as the perfect backdrop. Grass cloth is something that our designers at LCR West Hartford use quite often; it doesn’t have a pattern, and therefore doesn’t compete with other patterns throughout the room, yet has more depth than paint. Carpets are also a great way to add texture. A frieze area rug is not only incredibly durable but also warms up a hardwood floor nicely.

After the foundations are complete, attention can be turned to fabrics, furniture and accessories. Using a multitude of fabrics in a room is a very simple way to add texture, as well as add depth with different neutrals. When designing with neutral scheme it is also best to vary the shades slightly; for example, instead of using tans, vary the palette to incorporate cream, sand, camel and caramel. The way to achieve the combination is to make sure they are all of the same tone; keeping with either a cool or warm scheme, for example. Fabrics then can be found that incorporate any and all of these shades; they will help to add the depth and warmth needed for interest. Mixing different types of fabrics; from damask to velvet, woven chenille to silk, easily adds texture and interest all while keeping within the scheme.

Lastly, add in accessories. Look for special pieces that speak to you, and accessories will soon become the easiest way for you to make a room unique. Lamps can easily add texture and interest, as well as much needed light, and many vases do have a special finish or texture to them that will add to a space. Not every room needs color to be interesting and fun, a gorgeous space can be created with a neutral scheme, all you need is creativity and imagination.

A Few of Our Favorite Things: Cobra Candlesticks

At LCR West Hartford we see our fair share of crystal candlesticks. They come in an array of sizes and shapes, styles and prices. There are so many beautiful candlesticks to be seen, however, when there is one so gorgeous that it stops us in our tracks we can’t wait to tell the world.

While on a recent shopping trip we saw, and promptly fell in love with, the new Cobra Candlesticks by Rogaska. The design of these candlesticks is inspired by the movement of a Cobra; its upward twists and turns are reminiscent of a snake rising up, ready to attack. They are available in five sizes (5 ½”, 8 ¼”, 9 ½”, 10 ¼”, and 11 ¾”). Traditionally candlesticks are displayed in a pair of the same size, but our favorite way to show these off is in a grouping of either 3 or 5 candlesticks in varying sizes. It is a more modern way of displaying them, and is sure to add drama to any room.

They are a perfect gift for anyone who loves clean lines and great design. While they could be at home in any style of décor, we at LCR West Hartford recommend them as a gift to someone with a modern or eclectic taste. LCR West Hartford Designer Bios: Peter Robbin

LCR West Hartford, Connecticut is an interior design firm and retail shop owned by lead interior designer Peter Robbin. Peter has a Bachelors of Fine Arts and a Bachelors of Interior Architecture, both from Rhode Island School of Design. After he graduated, Peter worked in Paris for 6 months before heading to New York City. There, he gained experience working for three well-known interior firms. Then, in 1987, Peter moved to Connecticut and purchased what is now LCR from interior designer John LaFalce.

Peter’s design philosophy is based in tradition. As a classically trained interior designer, he enjoys designing a room in a classic/eclectic mix, working to incorporate classic pieces ranging from Traditional to 20th Century Modern, to Asian to French. In a classic/eclectic mix Peter feels that because of the juxtaposition of the different styles, their best features are then highlighted; the curved leg of a Louis XV chair is highlighted and more visually appealing when it’s against a hard line of an Asian end table. Then, Peter uses proportion, materials and color to tie everything together and give the room a cohesive look. Texture is also a tool Peter uses in his interiors, using it to give the room a warm and friendly feel. When different textures are found throughout a room it feels more comfortable and inviting- the room says come touch, not look and don’t touch.

For Peter it is important to get to know his client before starting to scheme for his design. He observes how the client dresses and presents him or herself and uses that information to design a room that best suits their personality and style. He also takes time to find out how the room will be used and how it is naturally lit; two important factors in his design.

Peter Robbin is a designer who’s interiors are based in tradition but always stylish. He turns away from current trends in favor of a design that is timeless and will never go out of style, using classics from an array of periods to give a room a cohesive and beautiful design, only adding new style that will become tomorrow’s classic. There is so much currently stylish that is dated in a few short years.

Peter’s designs have been featured in publications such as Colonial Homes Magazine, Metropolitan Home Magazine, House Beautiful, and Hartford Magazine.

Tamara Childs: The Perfect Gift

Finding the perfect gift to give can often be an arduous task. Our clients at LCR West Hartford always have one request when we help them pick out a gift; it has to be special. Gifts should be just as exciting to give as they are to receive, whether it’s a small thank you gift or something larger for a special occasion. It should be unique, and a piece of art. When we find a line that fulfills all of these requisites, we can’t help but share it and get excited ourselves.

We first brought in Tamara Childs glass pieces into our retail shop about two years ago, and it has recently been added to our website. Tamara Childs is a Seattle native; there she works with fine sheets of metal leaf to create masterpieces on a wide variety of glass pieces, most of which are exclusive designs. Tamara’s glass pieces are available in eight different color-ways, three of those being Gold, Silver and Copper. To achieve the remaining colors, Tamara mixes the metals in true artisan fashion. What we are left with are Sunset, a brilliant mix of gold and copper that radiates light and warmth; Northern Lights, a cooler color with hints of purples and greens just as one would see in the Aurora Borealis; Variegated Blue and Variegated Green, both with a marbled effect in their respective colors, over a gold ground; and Moss, her newest color, a soothing mix of gold and silver.

In each of these colors, Tamara creates different patterns; swirls, zig-zags, and slashes accent a wide array of glass pieces. Because of the many color-ways and patterns this line truly has something for everyone, regardless of their personal decorating tastes or color preferences. Whether it be gold, silver or color; contemporary or traditional, we can attest that everyone can find a piece from this fabulous gift line. Because the pieces range from small pieces such as vases or soap dishes, to large trays or bowls, the perfect gift can be discovered for any occasion; housewarming to wedding, and everything in between.

Fantastic Finds From the City that Never Sleeps

At LCR West Hartford the shopping trips that we take are some of the most exciting and fun times of the year. After three days of seeing everything there is to see in the world of gift, home accessories and tabletop we are so happy with what we will be bringing into the shop for the fall season.

We will be adding to one of our newer lines, the Grant Dawson Collection, which is part of the Four Seasons Design Group. The Grant Dawson Collection includes home accessories, tabletop and entertaining, and desk accessories. Every piece features an animal or a plant that is an endangered species; helping to bring awareness to that organism. A portion of all of Grant Dawson’s profits are donated back to the Sustainable Furnishings Council, a non-profit coalition from which Grant Dawson was awarded the Silver Exemplary Status in 2008. In addition to raising awareness of endangered species, Grant Dawson also prides itself on using sustainable resources for their line. They work primarily in pewter, precious metals, certified woods and recycled glass; with everything being made in the United States. One of our favorite pieces at LCR West Hartford, which is also best-seller, is the Dart Frogs Salt & Pepper. They are available in several color-ways and make the perfect addition to any table setting, adding not only a touch of whimsy but also serving as a wonderful conversation piece, as the story that goes along with the company is one to be shared. Their entire collection includes beautiful handmade pieces that truly do make the perfect gift.

At LCR West Hartford, our clients have come to expect beautifully set tables, and we are always on the lookout for the inspiration for the next stunning table. After revamping our selection of china over the past two years we were ready to move on to placemats, napkins and napkin rings, and boy, did we find some stunning pieces. Kim Seybert is a go-to line for tabletop at LCR West Hartford. As a former fashion designer, Kim Seybert always hits the mark with the latest trends. With the entire line before us, the challenging part was choosing what not to bring into the shop, but we are thrilled with what we bought. At LCR West Hartford we love gray for the fall season, so when we saw Kim Seybert’s gray capiz shell placemats in person, we swooned, and could immediately imagine the tables that could be set with them. At LCR West Hartford, we strive to bring in a wide array from neutrals to brights, dressy to casual; and enjoy setting tables in any style. We are happy to work with our clients to set the perfect table for their lifestyle using their special occasion china or everyday dinnerware, or anywhere in between. There is truly something out there for everyone.

Pean Doubulyu glass is a favorite line for tabletop at LCR West Hartford, and we are very pleased to announce that we will be carrying a larger selection for Fall and Holiday 2011. Pean Doubulyu glass is a family owned company out of Providence, Rhode Island; all glass is made there by hand. Pean Doubulyu glass is creative, colorful, and one of a kind. They have several collections within the line featuring tumblers, juice glasses, and carafes with everything from dots, to swirls to what they call the “wonkie jimmie” pattern pictured above. In addition to those classic favorites, we fell in love with new oversized, color-block pieces, including vases, bowls, and a cake plate. These pieces are the perfect home accessory to add a splash of color or an exquisite gift for a special someone. There are also clear glass pieces including a fabulous cruet set as well as stunning one of kind candlesticks that the artists make on Friday afternoons to end the work week on a fun note. Everything from the Pean Doubulyu line, from table top and entertaining pieces, to their home accessories, is a true work of art.

At LCR West Hartford we are so excited for all of the new product to arrive; now we just have to wait, which is always the hardest part. LCR West Hartford Designer Bio: Robin Jones

LCR West Hartford is pleased to introduce our newest interior designer Robin Jones. Robin has been with LCR since early spring of 2011 and has been busy ever since. For Robin, interior design is a lifelong passion. His training and background is from working for Kenneth Hammett of Woodbury, CT, one of the premier antique dealers in the United States; he still enjoys antiquing and loves using antiques in his design schemes. Robin was also educated at Rhode Island School of Design.

While Robin’s personal style of design is more of an eclectic mix, he is open to and loves decorating in whatever style his client is interested in. Because of his traditional training and his belief that all design, from interior design to jewelry, to art, can be traced back to traditional origins; once these fundamentals are understood any design style can be achieved. Robin stated that you “can’t abstract a form if you can’t relate to it in a traditional way.” This leaves Robin with the ability to transform any space to fit the vision that the client has. He takes great care to get to know his clients and listen to what they are looking for in a design; and then schemes to make sure the room fits their lifestyle, whatever that may be.

Robin’s design point of view evolved into a classic/modern mix; he believes that great design is a mix; including everything from contemporary to traditional to mid-century modern. He believes that modern design is about editing; as opposed to a Victorian Style that is heavy and incorporates many accessories. Robin incorporates items from a variety of styles and backgrounds; combining Asian, French and Mid-Century Modern; and then continues to mix in different fabrics and accessories to create a cohesive design scheme.

Interior Designer Robin Jones is flexible and adaptable in his design schemes. He designs for the wants and needs of his client, and will be sure to create a unique and lasting space.

Sea Glasbruk: LCR West Hartford's New Gift Line

Sea Glasbruk is one of the newest additions to both LCR West Hartford’s retail shop and lcrcollection.com. Sea Glasbruk is an Orrefors/Kosta Boda company; all of the pieces in the collection are handmade in Sweden, as keeping with their customs. Sea Glasbruk pieces have been hand painted and hand made by Swedish artists for over 50 years. These artists create pieces that both uphold and explore Swedish design traditions. More modern in style, these pieces will add grace to any décor, making them the perfect gift.

Vases from the gift collection exemplify this grace with their angled rim. The vases from the Sea collection, as well as the bowls, are all created by the artists in collaboration with florists, thus ensuring that the pieces better suit floral arrangements. Large Sea Glasbruk vases hold a bouquet of cut flowers beautifully and, when combined with the brilliant colors of the vases, you are left with an absolutely stunning arrangement which will be sure to brighten a dull corner or be the perfect centerpiece on a foyer table.

Other pieces in the collection include a cake plate and large platter. With the clean simple lines that is indicative of modern Swedish design, these pieces a great addition to any tabletop, perfect for entertaining or to be left out as part of the home décor in a kitchen or dining room. LCR West Hartford Showcases Lee Industries

In addition to being a full service interior design firm and a retail shop selling gift, tabletop and home accessories; LCR West Hartford carries furniture from several lines, including Lee Industries. Lee Industries is a family owned and operated furniture company that was founded in North Carolina in 1969. The founders of Lee, Bill and Dottie Coley, wanted to produce high quality, American-made furniture, and that is exactly what they did. Over 40 years later, they are still producing quality furniture, and have also turned their attention to the environment as well; according to their website all Lee upholstery contains certified sustainable frames, soy-based cushions, recycled metals, recycled fibers, and low VOC finishes. They have also partnered with several environmental councils to not only certify that their product is eco-friendly, but also to aid in promoting sustainability efforts on a national and global scale.

Our interior designers at LCR West Hartford have been using Lee furniture for many years now and they love it not only because of the quality, eco-friendly products, made in the USA, but because of the wide variety of pieces they carry. Lee is known for their sofas and chairs; they also have an array of benches and ottomans, as well as upholstered beds and outdoor furniture. Upholstered benches from Lee have been used by our interior designers in countless rooms of homes they’ve designed. Smaller ottomans have been used as vanity stools or as a piece that can be tucked away in the corner but then pulled out for extra seating when entertaining. On the other hand, larger benches and ottomans are perfect as coffee tables or, when placed in front of a fire place, can provide extra seating when needed, without blocking the view of what often is the focal point of a room. They are also great additions to bed rooms; whether a place to sit to put on shoes, or, in a kid’s room, a great place to read books or play.

In addition to the variety of pieces that Lee Industries carries, they also have many ways for their pieces to be customized. With over a thousand different fabrics to choose from, there is something for every décor. We recently brought six new pieces of Lee into our retail shop and they include a few examples of additional options Lee has.
Our tall, rectangular back wing chair is an example of how to upholster a chair in two different fabrics with a teal grounded velvet raised damask on the inside of the chair, the seat, and as a contrast fabric welt around the back of the chair where we have woven texture. We used antiqued brass nail head trim to delineate the two fabrics. Finally, the chair has legs in a warm fruitwood finish and antique brass casters to give it a complete and elegant look.

Our sectional sofa with a left-facing chaise is the perfect addition to any family room or den with its comfy seating. The woven texture in teal, gold and chocolate adds the perfect amount of visual interest while still reading as a neutral. By adding the teal velvet throw pillows with gold fringe sewn in, we achieve the perfect pop of color by pulling colors from the fabric to attain a cohesive look.

From contrast fabric welts, to nail trims, and leg finishes to throw pillows all accents are easily customized for any order here in our shop. Because LCR West Hartford’s retail shop is owned by an interior design firm we are able to utilize the same design techniques they use when ordering furniture for our retail clients. We have fabric samples that are available to be taken home so our clients can see them in their own space. Because we all have a passion for furniture, fabrics and upholstery it is an exciting experience to assist a client in selecting and customizing a piece of upholstery whether it is a sofa or headboard that will be an inspiration for a design or a small ottoman that is the perfect finishing touch.

LCR West Hartford Heads to the City

It’s that time of year again! LCR West Hartford will be making our fall shopping trip to New York City. We take 4-5 shopping trips each year and it’s always an exciting time for us; one of our favorite parts of the job. At LCR West Hartford we are constantly on the lookout for new and exciting artists from all over the world, and we are regularly searching for the next great thing to bring to our clients. Whether it’s a new gift line, a gorgeous new china pattern or a fabulous home accessory, we will be sure to find it! We cannot wait to bring it back to our retail shop and send it home with one of our retail clients or have one of our interior designers use it as a finishing touch in a clients home.

We love going to visit our favorite showrooms such as Michael Aram, L’ Objet and Michael Wainwright and seeing what new product they are debuting for the upcoming season. So far we have already set our sights on pieces from Michael Wainwright’s Capitol Collection, which is inspired by Washington, DC, as well as the new Sleepy Hollow Collection by Michael Aram. These collections will be great additions to our retail shop, especially as the holiday season draws near. The Capitol Collection makes a beautiful tabletop, especially when set with crystal stemware from Orrefors Kosta Boda. Michael Aram’s Sleepy Hollow Collection will make a stunning holiday gift or can be purchased as the perfect addition to your own entertaining collection. Including everything from cheeseboards, to casserole dishes, to wine bottle coasters; this collection has something for everyone. You can expect to see these collections online and in the shop for our Fall 2011 Season.

Another exciting aspect of our shopping trips into the city is the chance to bring new lines to both the shop and the website. Two and a half years ago, we discovered Tamara Childs, which is now a favorite line of ours. We love that Tamara was an American artist, working out of her studio in Seattle; as well as how pieces from the line harmonize beautifully with other collections, such as Annie Glass. Tamara Childs quickly became a go-to gift line in our retail shop, and is now the newest addition to our website. We are always on the lookout for new lines that we can bring in, paying special attention to any American artists we meet. From gift to tabletop, small home accessories to furniture; LCR West Hartford is always looking for a new and exciting addition to share with our clients. Shopping becomes an exciting adventure for home accessories as well. We take care to find unique pieces for our clients to fall in love with, knowing that this piece could be the perfect finishing touch in a room or an inspirational piece for a new decorating project. With a wide array of vendors to choose from, each with product from all over the world; we are able to bring in a wide variety of accessories, sure to fit any style of décor, color scheme and price range.

LCR West Hartford’s owner and lead interior designer, Peter Robbin, accompanies us on the shopping trip, not only finding home accessories for the shop but also for his own design clients. Peter has been an interior designer in the West Hartford area for over 25 years and enjoys selecting pieces on the shopping trips to be the finishing touches for current projects. Peter keeps in mind the colors of the project as well as other textures found in the room, as well as the scale, when selecting these pieces for clients. As we shop with him he is always sure to educate us on why he is selecting pieces so we can pass that information on to our retail shop clients as we are assisting them in selecting the perfect piece of home furnishing for their décor.

Many lines that are loved in our retail shop are also used by our interior designers in their designs for their client’s homes. Garden stools are an example of one home accessory that we carry in our retail shop that are quite often used by designers in a room. Robin Jones, an interior designer at LCR West Hartford, recently incorporated a turquoise blue garden stool in a family room that he is currently working on. It will sit between two wing chairs and will not only be a pop of color that finishes off the room but is also useful as a small table or extra seating. Peter Robbin recently purchased two Kushi Pourpre Chargers by Jaune de Chrome for a design client of his to be displayed in a new china cabinet. Because of the unique texture that the chargers have they stood out in the china cabinet and were a perfect backdrop to a beautifully set table. Jaune de Chrome is a newer line for LCR West Hartford; it has been in the retail shop and on the website since we discovered it on a shopping trip last year and decided we couldn’t live without it as part of our tabletop selection.

With less than a month to go until our big shopping trip we are excitedly counting down the days. It’s always a pleasure to bring back new product to share with our clients. Saint-Louis is a line of crystal stemware, glassware and giftware that we are very proud to carry here at LCR. The line is one of the mainstays of the LCR collection, and is also one of the oldest glassmaking companies in the world. Founded in the province of Lorraine on the eastern border of France in 1586, Saint-Louis was originally known as M ü nzthal Glassworks. In 1767, Louis the Fifteenth gave the factory the royal seal of approval by naming it the ‘Royal Glassworks of Saint-Louis’, after Louis the Ninth. The factory had an great amount of influence on the French economy and continued to flourish throughout the centuries.

What we at LCR love about the Saint-Louis crystal line is the timelessness and beauty of each design. By mixing history with current trends, the line is popular among today’s bridal and gift registries.

Scott Potter: Elegant Decoupage Designs

LCR West Hartford is pleased to announce our latest addition to our online and in-store collections, Scott Potter. After debuting a small selection of his product during our 2010 Holiday Season we will be presenting a greater assortment of his collection this spring. Starting May 1, 2011 we will be hosting a Scott Potter Trunk Show, which will feature approximately 30 products in store ranging from small bowls and trays to urns and vases. The in store event will continue through May 31, 2011. Products are currently available online, where we will feature a greater assortment of his designs year round. Also in celebration of our Scott Potter Trunk Show, we will be showcasing Jay Strongwater’s Hydrangea Collection, with product ranging from a $275 Small Hydrangea Box to the $2,500 Hydrangea Glass Bowl. Groupings of product from both artists makes a beautiful statement; a fabulous addition to any home décor.

Originating from a career in ballet, Scott Potter combined his knowledge of theater, choreography and costume with his love for classicism. This, combined with inspiration drawn from decoupage prints made in 18th Century English and Irish picture galleries, led Scott Potter to begin producing his art. Since 1992 Potter has been working in the mediums of decoupage and gilding to create his elegant, unique designs. The many designs in Scott Potter’s collection are all hand-blown crystal or glassware with images cut from reproductions of the 18th and 19th century prints that inspired him. These images are then applied to the glass in a realistic, yet elegant composition. After a careful cleaning the entire piece is gilded in many layers in the gold/sliver leaf finish, a colored leaf finish, or colored glaze finish. All designs are signed by Scott Potter.

Scott Potter’s designs are exceedingly rare and are collected and coveted by mid-eastern royalty, movie stars, and celebrities. His product line includes desk and library accessories, bath accessories, tabletop, and home accent pieces with pieces ranging from trays, paperweights, classical urns, dinnerware and vases to larger items such as large floor screens and fireplace screens. In the history of Swedish glassmaking, Orrefors Kosta Boda is one of the most highly recognized names. The company gets its name from the area of Sweden in which it originated - an area where hand-blown glass has been produced for over two and a half centuries. The foundation of Orrefors Kosta Boda is based on experience and technique. Designers and glassmakers work side-by-side in a collaborative effort to develop ideas. These ideas come to fruition in the form of beautiful, hand-made pieces of art & functional glass.

The elements of nature that surround the village of Orrefors are inspiration for glassblowing. Ripples in the water, beams of light shining through the trees, clear air – these elements are all reflected in each finished piece of the Orrefors line. Michael Wainwright: An American Artist

Michael Wainwright has been one of the fastest growing new collections at LCR West Hartford. Just a few years ago we started out with just handful of products from the line, after hosting a large trunk show and signing event with Michael Wainwright in the shop, the line has quickly blossomed into a go-to line for gift, home accessories and table top.

With porcelain produced in both Ohio and Arizona and his design studio located in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, Michael Wainwright is a true American artist. Through his many worldly travels Michael gathers his inspiration for his different collections. Ranging from the Manhattan Collection which portrays the New York City skyline, to the Giotto Collection which echoes the rays of light of halos in early Renaissance paintings, Michael incorporates 24k gold and platinum in ways that will suit any style of décor.

The Truro Collection takes its inspiration from the beaches of Truro, Cape Cod characterizing the movement of the ocean and undulating dunes. Available in both platinum and 24k gold, this collection is a classic and will truly fit into any décor.

Wainwright’s Amalfi Collection evokes the memories of traveling through the Mediterranean. Michael Aram, who founded his company in the late 1980’s, is an American-born artist. He uses traditional metalworking techniques, which he learned about on a trip to India, to create distinctive objects for the home. His work reflects who he is as an artist. New Dinnerware Patterns for Spring from Gien France

Gien, a French tabletop company, has been an LCR staple for the last 20 years. The line carries products ranging from everyday dinnerware and serving pieces to table linens to decorative home accessories, all made and hand painted in an earthenware factory in France. Throughout the years, Gien has remained a popular dinnerware and bridal registry line in our shop.

With the introduction of Gien’s two newest dinnerware patterns, Ronde D’Orient and Sultana, comes a fresh new look for spring.
